My name is Chol Atem Giet Monykuch, I am a multi-disciplinary software engineer with a specialization in Machine Learning at the African Leadership University in Kigali, Rwanda. My passion lies within using the combination of technology, design and education to build digital solutions with a strong focus on using them to create a positive impact. I create innovative and socially responsible applications and systems to help communities empower themselves, increase their opportunities for education and deliver real-life value.
While designing and developing the Youth Growth Portal (a platform that connects young individuals with opportunities, resources and tools for enhancing their personal, professional and economic growth), I have created various dashboards, management systems and interactive platforms by transforming Figma prototypes into responsive, functional, user-friendly digital products. My technical expertise and creative design are applied together to provide high quality user-centric digital products and services.
I work across the full technology stack. My technical tools include React, NodeJS, Django, Python, and JavaScript. With respect to user interface/user experience (UI/UX) design principles, I focus on delivering solutions that not only look visually appealing but also function effectively. I enjoy problem solving challenges with creativity to develop innovative solutions. In addition to software development, I have experience in graphic design, educational practices, project coordination, and digital media (management). As a committed advocate for youth empowerment, I will continue to support social innovation and create opportunities for the use of technology and design for all Africans through the power of technology.
My journey through technology, learning, and growth
Started my journey at the African Leadership University (ALU) as a Software Engineering student. I was introduced to programming fundamentals, which sparked my passion for technology and problem-solving.
Began working on system development and core programming concepts, strengthening my understanding of backend and frontend fundamentals.
Started building full-stack web applications and mobile apps, gaining hands-on experience in designing and deploying responsive, user-friendly digital products.
Chose to specialize in Machine Learning, focusing on projects that combine AI, software development, and data-driven solutions to address real-world challenges.
Expanded my skills into UI/UX and graphic design, integrating design and development to create comprehensive digital experiences from concept to deployment.
